Wellington Sculpture Trust Change of Chairman
The Wellington Sculpture Trust announces that the Chairman for the last 12 years, Neil Plimmer, is retiring in mid May
2013 and that Trustee, Sue Elliott has been appointed the new chair.
Neil Plimmer, who is remaining on as a member of the Trust board, noted,
“This past year the Trust celebrated the installation of its 25th public sculpture, and that is a good time to step
down. It has been a wonderful experience working with so many artists, donors, Mayors, Councillors and Council staff,
fabricators, landscape architects and many others to add to the wealth of public art in the city.
“It is good too to hand over to such a strong Board with Sue Elliott at the helm. The outlook for the Trust and its
contribution to the city’s creative landscape is exciting.”
Sue Elliott said: “I am looking forward to the challenges ahead and continuing the aim of the Trust to provide the best
in contemporary public sculpture, both temporary and permanent, for Wellington, and to facilitate debate about the role
and nature of public art.
“Neil, in his time as chair, has left a tremendous legacy for Wellington, as well as big shoes to fill; I am delighted
he has agreed to stay on as a Trustee so we can continue to tap into his extensive knowledge and experience.”
