MAORI TELEVISION DELIGHTED WITH SUCCESS OF ANZAC DAY
Interest in Maori Television’s ANZAC Day coverage continues to grow with a 37% increase in viewership compared to last year and more than 470,000 people tuning in throughout the day.
Whilst overall television viewership was down 5% compared to last year, Maori Television was the only channel to increase. Viewers around the world also accessed much of the day’s coverage on Maori Television’s new website.
“Maori Television is committed to recognising events that are important to all New Zealanders. This is our 8th year of dedicated ANZAC Day programming and we are thrilled with the response,” says Chief Executive Jim Mather.
Presented by Julian Wilcox, Judy Bailey and Wena Harawira, the day’s coverage included a documentary following 22 Kiwi veterans as they returned to El Alamein, A Company in the 28th Maori Battalion, the story of Victoria Cross recipients and the NZ Army Band concert featuring Anika Moa and Ria Hall.
Programmes are available to view online at www.maoritelevision.com.
