Historic monuments and masonry
structures in seismic areas
Seminars in Auckland, Christchurch and Dunedin next week offer the unique and limited opportunity to hear Prof. Ing. Claudio Modena talk about his work and experiences with historic monuments and masonry structures, including strengthening and retrofitting in seismic areas.
A Professor of Structural Engineering at the University of Padua, Professor Modena also has an extensive background in research and consulting within EU programmes, including the High Risks Committee – Seismic Risk Sector of the Italian national Civil Protection Agency, and the special committee established by the Italian Ministry of Infrastructures and Public Works for re-drafting national codes related to structural safety.
Professor Modena is New Zealand ] with the support of the New Zealand Historic Places Trust (NZHPT) to present on Sunday 28 April at the New Zealand Society of Earthquake Engineers’ (NZSEE) conference Same Risks – New Realities in Wellington.
