International Recognition For The Blue Rose

MEDIA RELEASE: WEDNESDAY APRIL 24, 2013

International Recognition For The Blue Rose

South Pacific Pictures’ drama series The Blue Rose has been nominated in the prestigious Festival de Television de Monte-Carlo.

The critically acclaimed mystery series, which stars Antonia Prebble and Siobhan Marshall in the dual lead roles, is the sole New Zealand contender among the 12 productions in the Drama TV Series category.  The Blue Rose shares the category with the crème of international television series, including Homeland, Breaking Bad, Downton Abbey, Doctor Who and Danish cult hits Borgen III and Forbrydelsen (The Killing) III.

The Festival de Television de Monte-Carlo Competition is held from June 9-13, 2013.  The Festival gathers and rewards – with a Golden Nymph or a selection of Special Prizes – the best television programmes and actors from all around the world. Throughout the Festival, international juries composed of distinguished industry professionals and talent participate in screenings of all programming in Competition.

Series producer and South Pacific Pictures Managing Director Chris Bailey says: “I am thrilled that, on the eve of our show’s season finale, The Blue Rose has been recognised amongst the world’s best television series.”

The dramatic season finale of The Blue Rose airs on Monday April 29 at 9.45pm on TV3.  The Blue Rose season one DVD box set will be on sale nationwide from May 1.
