New Line-Up for 3 News Weather
A change of weather presenters will see Ingrid Hipkiss take over the weekday weather presenting role in the 3 News 6pm bulletin, replacing Mike Hall.
Mike’s final day on air will be Friday 3 May. He will continue to freelance for TV3, and will work on the weather desk as a consultant during a full handover developing further weather features.
Paul Maher, Chief Executive MediaWorks TV says: “Mike has done a great job over the past seven years, introducing numerous innovations to the 3 News weather product as both a presenter and producer. We thank him for all his hard work.
“Ingrid will bring a fresh perspective, and a fantastic skill set to what is a key part of the 3 News’ bulletin.”
Ingrid Hipkiss has worked for 3 News for 10 years as a journalist and presenter. Currently a senior reporter for the 6pm bulletin, Ingrid was part of the 3 News press gallery team for four years, was news anchor on Sunrise, and presented Nightline during Sacha McNeil’s maternity leave.
Mike says: “It’s been a privilege to bring the weather to Kiwis around the country. Many New Zealanders are either passionate or parochial about their weather - I thoroughly enjoyed it.
“It was also an honour being part of an award-winning News presenting team, but I'm now looking forward to new challenges. I wish Ingrid all the best.”
Ingrid says: “Weather plays a unique part in people’s lives; personal and economic. I’m looking forward to joining Mike, Hilary and the team in the 3 News studio each weeknight to present the forecast, and to covering major weather events in the field.”
Ingrid’s first day as 3 News weeknight weather presenter will be Monday 6 May. Josh Heslop will continue to present the weather in 3 News’ weekend bulletins.
