Holder Competitive At Otago Rally
A solid start for Dave Holder at the opening round of the New Zealand Rally Championship (NZRC), Rally of Otago, has left him excited about the competitiveness of his Stella Pumps Ford Fiesta ST, against the newer R2 Fiesta version.
“After the weekend I’m pretty pumped to be fair, I’m learning more about the car with every stage and it’s becoming clear it can be pushed a lot harder”
After a dusty start catching a fellow competitor in the opening stage, Holder put in a good solid and consistent performance at Otago. Taking three stage wins, several Fiesta ST stage records, and banking good points for third.
“It’s now time to change it up a gear and see what we can get out of the car” states Holder. “It’s a promising start to the year, and with the elimination of a few errors I’m sure we can provide a close battle in Whangarei”
Meanwhile Holder continues to be mentored by Hayden Paddon, and he is keen to grab every bit of advice and experience that comes his way, even if sometimes the experience is a result of the odd mistake…“The car ran perfect all weekend, although on the second last stage I almost threw it all away!” joked Holder “We went wide and clipped a bank that chucked us up on two wheels momentarily, before we managed to grab another gear and get out of there!”
The Holder Brothers Racing team now begins preparing for the International Rally of Whangarei held on the 18th & 19th May. A huge thanks to all the people that helped out over the weekend, and of course to my fantastic sponsors, without them none of this would be possible!
