Super Start for the Superhuman Festival!

The Documentary New Zealand Trust presents

THE DOCUMENTARY EDGE INTERNATIONAL FESTIVAL 2013.

Super Start for the Superhuman Festival!

Last night’s Documentary Edge Festival 2013 kicked off in super-human fashion with a sold out venue at Q Theatre’s Rangatira space for the opening night screening of The Island President. An incredible benchmark was set for this year’s season at the pop-up multiplex – one that, given the buzz around the festival, will no doubt be met numerous times throughout the Auckland season.

The Documentary Edge team has also received last-minute confirmation of another international delegate making their way to New Zealand as part of this year’s festivities. Philippe Bellaiche, the producer and acclaimed cinematographer of Gypsy Davy, will be travelling from Israel and will be in Auckland for the duration of the film’s screenings.

Adding to a stellar opening night, details were revealed about the upcoming Documentary Edge Awards, to be held at the annual Gala event on April 18th. The finalists for this year’s categories include:

Best International Feature Documentary:
A World Not Ours, The Invisible War, Salma, How To Survive a Plague, The Waiting Room

Best New Zealand Feature Documentary:
Bikes for Africa, Finding Mercy, Pretty Brutal, Red While Black & Blue

Best International Short:
