From Kitchen Sink to the Big Apple: In Conversation with Alison Maclean
Script to Screen, the NZ Film Archive and the NZ Film Commission present director Alison Maclean in conversation with playwright and filmmaker Stuart McKenzie.
Alison wrote and directed one of the most successful NZ short films of all time, Kitchen Sink, which debuted at Cannes in 1989 and won eight international awards. After her debut NZ feature Crush, she moved abroad, directing feature film Jesus’ Son (US) and television drama including Sex and the City and Gossip Girl. Alison divides her time between New York, Canada and New Zealand, and is developing several feature films.
Join Alison as she talks to chair Stuart McKenzie about her work and her career: from Kitchen Sink to Jesus’ Son to the demands of working in television around the world.
