Class Comedians Showcase
Starring The
2013 Class Comedians
After two months of intensive training under the Class Comedians Programme, the next generation of seriously savvy young comedians are unleashed on the public with the Class Comedians Showcase in Auckland and Wellington on Saturday 18th May.
They all started somewhere - Billy Connolly worked an oil rig; Dawn French was a chamber maid; Dai Henwood DJ’ed weddings; Rhys Darby did a stint in the army and Bill Bailey was a crematorium organist. This is your chance to see them before they turn pro at their graduation performance in Auckland’s Q Theatre and down in the capital at the newly relocated BATS Theatre.
For more than a decade the Class Comedians Programme has helped teenagers with a passion for comedy. After going into schools doing lunch time shows and holding auditions, the cream de la crème who are selected then undergo a series of free workshops where they learn the tricks of the trade – from sketch writing and improvisation, to marketing and promoting their own show. Along the way, some old hands of the comedy circuit will be providing their advice to a new generation of comedians in the making.
Witness them step up to the mic and wow you with their brand new skills in a hilarious fresh comedy showcase. Rose Matafeo (U Live) and Rhys Mathewson (Billy T Winner & 7 Days) started their awesome comedy careers in Class Comedians. Who’ll be next?
