Threads of Community an exhibition and art project Nicola Dench
Threads of community, an exhibition of ceramic wall art, sets out to start a discussion on how we can all make small differences to how we live in our community to improve our connectedness and wellbeing and tackle the problems of our society at a ground level.
Art Blanket project
The Art Blanket project will run during Threads of Community, inviting members of the public to leave their mark in thread on a woollen blanket. Year 7/8 school children have been invited to join in the project where each school takes a blanket and makes an artwork conveying their idea of community. The goals of the art blanket project are to connect different generations and share experiences of community, to share the skills of sewing and to create an art blanket that will be part of the “Art blanket” exhibition (one year on). These blankets will then used in their school sick bay.
