Future Stars Raise the Curtain For Haier Pulse
With less than a week to go before the start of the 2013 ANZ Championship, the Haier Pulse is delighted to announce a
series of exciting curtain raisers for its home games, highlighting the growth and development of college netball in the
region.
Chris Hooper, CEO Netball Central, is looking forward to seeing local college netball teams raise their profile through
the televised games on Sky TV. “This is a fantastic opportunity, not only for the individual players and teams, but also
for the whole Central Netball community, as it provides the chance for everyone to see the exceptional talent that we
have in our region. It also gives our young players something to aspire to as they progress in their netball careers at
school.”
Now in its third year, the competition starts on 6 April and boasts 18 teams vying for that elusive top spot in a
knock-out format, which will see a new chapter in some of New Zealand's great secondary school rivalries.
The 18 teams will be grouped into three zones, with the winner from each (and the second placed Upper North Island team)
coming together for the two Semi-Finals and leading into the Grand Final.
The Grand Final will be broadcast on Monday 17 June before the Haier Pulse take on the Easiyo Canterbury Tactix at Te
Rauparaha Arena.
In all, 12 games will be televised on SKY Sport, who will also be producing a highlights package.
The Haier Pulse travel to Adelaide to play the Thunderbirds this Sunday 24 March in their opening game of the 2013 ANZ
Championship.

2013 Competition Format
1. Knock-out format leading to a national final
2. Beginning with the top six teams from each of the three Regional Secondary School Tournaments (Upper North, Lower
North, South Island)
3. The seeding is based on the finish position of the school in the Regional Event.
4. Each team play another from within the group over three rounds until a Pool Winner is found.
a. Winners progress to the next round/losers are eliminated
b. There will be five games per group played
5. The top team from each pool + the second team in Upper North Island Pool
a. Plays a semi-final – UN1 v SI 1 and UN 2 v LN 1
b. The winner of each semi-final meet in a Grand Final
6. The total number of games played = 18
7. The format of the games is modified –
a. 4 x 8 minute quarters
b. Intervals of 2/3/2
c. Stoppages are all 30secs in duration
