NZ @ SXSW 2012

NZ @ SXSW 2012

On the 13th of March the NZ Music Commission hosted its annual SXSW party at Brush Square Park in downtown Austin, Texas.

With over 19,000 music fans and over 2000 acts performing over the 4 day conference, the NZ party offers our bands a chance to perform to an invited crowd of music fans and music industry professionals.

This year at Brush Square Park, the event filled to capacity within half an hour and remained that way for the rest of the evening.

2013 saw Six60, Ghost Wave, Lips (pictured), Die!Die!Die!, NO and Truth performing to a crowd of industry representatives and fans over the three hour showcase.

“Another great NZ showcase put on by the Music Commission, full off international music industry delegates.” Teresa Patterson, manager of Six60.

“SXSW is a great event to catch up with a lot of cool people and also see some great bands. Ghost Wave have had some really good shows and are getting onto the radar. The NZ party was as always packed with a great array of industry folks to meet and talk to.” – Ben Howe, Flying Nun Records/Arch Hill Recordings

“..was a wonderful evening and a proud moment to share some Kiwi love with the rest of the world..” - Bradley Carter, NO

“This was our fourth NZ music showcase at SXSW over the years and definitely our favourite. It was a chance to see old friends and make new ones.” - Andrew Wilson, Die!Die!Die!

Also appearing at SXSW 2013 are Willy Moon and Unknown Mortal Orchestra.
