New Yorkers Get a Bite of Fresh Meat

MEDIA RELEASE
From the New Zealand Film Commission Thursday, 7 March 2013

New Yorkers Get a Bite of Fresh Meat

Danny Mulheron’s action-packed comedy horror, FRESH MEAT, is one of seven features selected to screen in the Midnight Section of the Tribeca Film Festival (TFF) which runs from April 17 to 28 in Lower Manhattan, New York.

The section features a mix of horror films as a true celebration of this innovative, risky, and ground-breaking film genre.

This will be the film’s New York premiere following its world premiere at the 2012 Hawaii International Film Festival and European premiere at the 31st Brussels International Fantastic Film Festival in early April.

Last month, the North American distribution rights for Fresh Meat were acquired by Tribeca Film which acquires and markets independent films across multiple platforms, including video-on-demand, theatrical and home video.

Directed by Danny Mulheron and written by Briar Grace-Smith, Fresh Meat stars Temuera Morrison (Star Wars: Episode II Attack of the Clones, River Queen, Vertical Limit, Once Were Warriors) as the head of a family of modern-day, middle-class cannibals unwittingly taken hostage by the Tan brothers’ gang after a botched prison break. Fresh Meat was produced by leading New Zealand producer, Dave Gibson (The Irrefutable Truth About Demons, Panic at Rock Island, Aftershock, Eruption) and financed by the New Zealand Film Commission (NZFC). NZ Film, the sales arm of the NZFC, is handling world sales for the film.
