What's on @ Lopdell
Katharina Kercher - Mannequin
8 March - 8 April 2013
In this series of work, Titirangi based photographer Katharina Kercher offers glimpses into the curious world of mannequin manufacture. It marks the 75th anniversary of Purfex mannequin factory, it is the outcome of documenting months of packing up their large workshop and moving to smaller premises here in New Lynn.
Katharina Kercher has a longstanding interest in mannequins, their seductive and idealized beauty. The images invite the viewer to get a look at how mannequins are being made as well as experience the sensuous and all too human appearance of mannequins.
