Nelson SPCA Announces the Inaugural Dogs’ Day Out 2013
The Nelson SPCA is calling all local dog owners to bring their beloved pooches along to Dogs’ Day Out (previously known as The Million Paws Walk and Fun Dog Show) – a day of fun and entertainment for dogs and the whole family.
The event will take place on March 17 at Isel Park, Stoke, and will include a short group walk, fun dog show, agility
demonstrations, a petting zoo, and a whole lot more.
It is free for people to come along or $10 to register for the walk and/or fun dog show. Some of the categories included
are Best ex SPCA Dog, Golden Oldie (sponsored by O2B Healthy), Best Trick, and many more! It will be a great day out for the entire family with Dog Agility Demonstrations by Nelson Dog Training Club, a sausage sizzle (free range), with vegetarian options and other refreshments available. An SPCA shop stand will also
be there, as well as a bouncy castle, petting zoo, face painting - plus loads of free giveaways and spot prizes.
Donna Walzl, Centre Manager of the Nelson SPCA, says the event was developed as a "dogs day” where people can bring along their dog, participate in fun events,
support the SPCA and most of all have an enjoyable day out with their dogs. It is also a fun way for the Nelson SPCA to give back to the local community and celebrate the special bonds shared between dogs and their guardians.
“The Nelson SPCA is a charitable organisation reliant on funding from the community, and we are fortunate this event is so well
supported.” says Ms Walzl.
“The Dogs’ Day Out is our way of saying thanks to local dogs and their owners, so we encourage all dog lovers to come along and take part
in what’s set to be a fantastic day, with heaps of prizes up for grabs - such as a year’s supply of K9 Plus from O2B Healthy.”
“We are really excited to be working with O2B Healthy this year to make this event so much bigger and better. O2B Healthy are putting up a fantastic fist prize for the Golden Oldie Section and have been very supportive in the promotion of
this annual event. Hills Science Diet are also providing prizes for winners of the dog show as well as loads of other giveaways on the day. We are also very
excited to have More FM on board this year promoting the event and they will be there on the day as our MC.”
The Nelson SPCA’s Dogs’ Day Out is sponsored by O2B Healthy, The Leader, Hills Nutrition, and Nelson MORE FM 92.8. The event will take place on Sunday March 17th, 2013 at Isel Park, Stoke, from 10am to 2pm. Registration is at 9:45am
and the cost to register is $10 - with all proceeds going to the Nelson SPCA. Pre-registration forms are available from
the SPCA or people can register on the day of the event.
