Frequency Media Group is pleased to announce three out of the seven finalists for the Taite MusicPrize are part of the FMG family.
Aaradhna, @Peace and Home Brew join the list of frontrunners from a lengthy list of nominations submitted by both independent and major record labels across the country.
The prestigious award’s purpose is to recognise outstanding creativity for an entire collection of music contained on one album.
Aaradhna’s critically acclaimed album Treble &Reverb was met with rave reviews and paved the way for the rising star’s recently announced US record deal with Republic Records – the same label as one of her influences, the late Amy Winehouse.
@Peace won over the bloggers with their debut self-titled album which featured a musical soundscape laid down by Christoph El Truento (Wonderful Noise), Hayden 'Dandruff' Dicky & Brandon Haru.
They have also recently returned with their latest release, a 10 track conceptual EP about a failed relationship - aptly named Girl Songs. The new the album shot straight to #1 on iTunes and bandcamp.
This is the second album to debut at #1 in the last 12 months from the Young, Gifted & Broke boys, with Home Brew’s highly anticipated self-titled double album topping the NZ Top 40 album chart on release - thefirst local, #1 hip-hop debut album since Scribe's The Crusader in November 2003.
Aaradhna, @Peace and Home Brew join Collapsing Cities, Lawrence Arabia, OPPOSSOM and SJD as finalists for the Taite Music Prize 2013. Frequency Media Group wishes all the artists the best of luck.
The award, named after the late Dylan Taite - one of the country's most highly respected music journalists, is now in its fourth year.
