The Mission Concert starring two of the world’s greatest performers, Barry Gibb and Carole King, is just days away and excitement is building in the greatest outdoor concert held annually in New Zealand.
More than 100 contractors are onsite today, erecting the stage and the number of people working on this amazing event
will continue to build throughout the week, culminating on showday Saturday with well in excess of 1000 personnel on
site.
The stage, measuring 15 metres x 42 metres, is the same stage used by Coldplay, reconfigured to suit the picturesque
Mission Estate site – including spanning a creek!
The roof of the stage weighs over 50 tonnes and over 200 sheets of plywood have been used to construct the floor.

Craft says everything is set for a very smooth and entertaining concert on Saturday.
“There are a few changes that have had to be made as a result of changes to the liquor license but we have measures in
place, designed to be straightforward and cause minimal inconvenience to concert fans.
“In a nutshell, the changes will mean that sale of liquor will be restricted to the concert paddock only.” The property
between Church Road and the ticketing points will be alcohol free zones. As per previous years the Mission Concert is a
Non BYO event.
Mr Craft says bag searches and ticketing will open from 2.30pm on Saturday and access to the concert will open at 3pm.
Craft also revealed one final surprise. Pop singing priest Father Chris Skinner will perform on stage at 3.30pm, singing
his award winning version of You Raise Me Up among other favourites.
