Pre-Season Game at Mangatainoka Almost Sold Out
Tickets for next weekend’s Super Rugby pre-season game between the Hurricanes and Chiefs have almost sold out.
The game organised by Tui Brewery and to be played at the Mangatainoka RFC on Saturday February 16th, has less than 300
general admission tickets available. All 1700 VIP and corporate tickets have been sold says Tui Brewery commercial
manager Nick Rogers, who has championed the grass roots rugby match for four years in a row.
“This year’s game is looking to be another sell out,” says Mr Rogers. “That is what’s so beautiful about this festive
event – it’s true heartland rugby and reflects the level of support for our national game in provincial New Zealand and
how much people enjoy being part of such an entertaining event.”
Chiefs head coach Dave Rennie says his team is excited about returning to Mangatainoka after having first played there
in 2011, when the Hurricanes clinched a narrow 35-31 victory.
"The Chiefs really enjoy getting out into the provincial area's to play rugby. Many of our boys come from smaller towns,
so they know how much the locals appreciate it when Super Rugby teams play in places like Mangatainoka,” he says.
In true No 8 wire style, Tui Brewery is bringing the big game to the small town for the fourth year in a row after
securing two of Super Rugby’s most passionate franchises. Like previous preseason games at Mangatainoka, the February
16th game is expected to go down in grass roots rugby folklore. It will again be played on Neil Symonds' farm and see
the community rally together to host a predicted 8,000 visitors. There will be enough temporary seating to accommodate
all ticket-holders; pre and post game entertainment as well as an array of guest speakers while passionate fans are
expected to turn out in their regional colours. General admission tickets are still available.
Tui has teamed up with key match day supporters to make the day possible including: Cable Price, HireQuip, MoreFM, PGG
Wrightsons, Norwood Farm Machinery, Sharpes Stockfeeds, PrintCraft and Wairarapa News.
