Paul Kelly has added three new concert dates to his NZ tour this March. The multi award-winning, critically revered song writer will now perform an additional show in Wellington, and play new dates in Christchurch and Dunedin.
Kelly will make his way through his outstanding catalogue of work to date accompanied by his talented nephew Dan Kelly (also on guitar).
Paul Kelly has recorded nineteen studio albums as well as the music for several film and television soundtracks. He has been the recipient of 5 ARIA film awards for best original soundtrack (Lantana), and for music, multiple ARIA’s 3 APRA songwriting awards and 6 CMA’s (Australian Country Music Awards). He was inducted into the ARIA Hall Of Fame in 1997 and was a finalist for Australian of the Year in 2012.
Throughout his impressive career Kelly has also written songs for other influential artists including Mick Thomas, Renee Geyer, Kate Ceberano, Nick Cave, Kasey Chambers, Missy Higgins and Troy Cassar-Daley.
His songs have touched the hearts of fans in Australia, New Zealand and the USA where David Fricke of Rolling Stone Magazine called Kelly “one of the finest songwriters I have ever heard…” Gems such as Before Too Long, Darling It Hurts, Dumb Things, To Her Door and Give in to My Love make up the legacy amplified only by Kelly’s unique approach to music and his deep lyrical understanding.
Lydia Cole joins in to weave some quiet magic of her own with tunes from the acclaimed ‘Me & Moon’ album hailed as “one of the most complete and endearing recordings” heard by NZ Musician in a long time.
‘Me & Moon’ has not only gathered a swag of new fans to Lydia’s heartfelt songs but won Roundhead studio engineer Neil Baldock a Tui at the recent NZ Music Awards and a finalists slot in the APRA Silver Scrolls with the sublime ‘Hibernate’.
The wry banter Lydia Cole injects between her heart-on-sleeve songs makes her a captivating addition to the bill.
Be treated to a night of master storytelling and song from one of Australia’s finest musicians.
