The Edge One Night Stand Line-Up Completed

The Edge One Night Stand Line-Up Completed:
Fun. And Kids Of 88 Joined By Ruby Frost And Kidz In Space

The Edge One Night Stand line-up at Auckland’s Logan Campbell Centre on 13 March has now been completed.

Ruby Frost and Kidz In Space join headliners FUN. and already announced support Kids of 88 on a bill that is sure to be the most high octane pop show of the Summer.

Having taken their quirky, melodic hooks and vintage pop to the top of the charts worldwide, FUN. bring their live show to Auckland for the first time. The New York trio’s album Some Nights is multi-platinum around the world and they are set to star at the Grammy Awards in LA this weekend as well as Auckland in just over a month’s time.

Ruby Frost’s 2012 debut album Volition has set the young Auckland alt-pop princess on a supernova trajectory. The album was produced by American synth maven Chris Zane and debuted at #5 in the local charts. Drawing on a wide palate of influences, from Björk and Michael Jackson to Air and Fleetwood Mac, Volition brought her songs to life in a neon tumult of beats, polished pop melodies, samples and sequins. Onstage Ruby Frost’s striking pastel hued hair and sparkling fashion ensembles will bring all the passion of great performance to the Edge One Night Stand.

When they first emerged, stiff and synthetic, in early 2008, everything Kidz in Space did was shrouded in absurdist mystery. They claimed, semi-convincingly, to be from another planet with a sound that melded the best of chart pop (the production) and hip hop (um, the rapping) in a manner so effortless as to sound somewhat alien. Their television debut saw them in what at first glance looked like spacesuits we quickly realised were totally home-made.

Newly re-armed with Ashley Hughes’ superb transition from rapper to singer and the addition of drummer Ben Barter, Kidz in Space are now a fully fledged power pop machine that threatens to ignite the Edge One Night Stand.

New songs and old, hits are pouring out of these Kidz, just like Ruby, the other Kids (of 88) and the FUN. boys, all promising – as we keep saying – to make this a night to go down in history.

Do. Not. Miss. Out. We don’t want to be responsible for your tears. Tickets selling FAST at Ticketmaster now.
