HRV salutes Black Caps

HRV salutes Black Caps

HRV would like to congratulate the New Zealand Black Caps on a thrilling series victory over the Proteas in Kimberley, South Africa this morning.

“What a sterling effort by a team that was knocked down but not out of their tour of South Africa. We applaud their effort and look forward to more exciting matches to come. Here’s hoping that we clinch a series clean sweep on Friday,” says Bruce Gordon, CEO, HRV.

Batsman Kane Williamson was the hero of the day in what was New Zealand’s first ever ODI series victory in South Africa. Williamson’s unbeaten score of 145 runs was the backbone of New Zealand’s innings and carried the team to a total of 279 runs. This made way for a fantastic team effort in the field with five run-outs, equalling the current ODI record. An incredible achievement by a team that had been dismissed by a number of critics before the series had even begun.

The victory caps off a fantastic week for cricket in New Zealand which saw the Otago Volts crowned as the national HRV Cup champions. The Volts have earned the chance to represent New Zealand at the prestigious Champions League tournament in India.

“We wish the Volts well in the qualification rounds of the Champions League and hope to see them vying for the title in September,” concluded Gordon.
