Kiwi Cooking in Tamworth - Try a Dip in “The River”
New Zealand's top female country artist, Aly Cook, has her cool clothes packed today as she heads off to Australia's biggest Country Music festival in Tamworth. With a large contingent of fellow Kiwis, Aly is expecting to cook in the searing heat of the New South Wales town which reached 41 degrees on Friday.
The Tamworth Country Music Festival is rated among the ten top music festivals in the world and attracts over 70,000 visitors over its ten day duration.
Aly will be performing in a showcase of top Kiwi talent in "The New Zealand Spectacular", in the lovely Capitol Theater on Wednesday 23 January. “I am really looking forward to this show,” said Aly as she took a break from rehearsals, “and I will really enjoy sharing the stage with Chart toppers Kaylee Bell & The Heartleys & a raft of other highly awarded stars.”
Wednesday also sees Aly release her new single "The River" a song she co-wrote with Kiwi hit maker/producer Alan Jansson.
The song has a beautiful video clip by Christchurch based director Paul Sparkes.
“We decided to film this in Christchurch to remind people of the beauty of this beautiful city that has recently been ravaged by earthquakes.” Aly told us, “We saw that many Christchurch businesses have suffered a great deal over the past few years and thought this video might just help to draw visitors back to the area and help a little with its recovery.”
The video is filled with vibrant colours, as Aly punts her way down the Avon River.

2013 looks to be a busy year for Aly as she travels back to Australia in February for a series of concerts in between her busy performance schedule at home.
