Youthride
One epic journey for one worthy cause
PRESS RELEASE
To reinvent an age-old quote, a journey of 1000 miles must begin with a single pedal, and for two brave men attempting ‘Youthride’ this journey is well and truly underway.
In layman’s terms, two guys by the names of Tom and Ben are attempting to bike ride the length of New Zealand - all in the name of leading youth development organisation, Youthline.
“Youthline is a wonderful organisation. They do a lot of good work off the back of volunteer hours. They are scrupulous in their recruitment. They are professional and they are not funded as well as I believe they should be,” says Youthride organiser, Tom Lynskey.
Currently in Napier, the determined duo will be making a stop off at Youthline Central Auckland on Monday 14thth of January, where they will be welcomed by Youthline staff and volunteers and led out of town by a group of young cycle enthusiasts.
“We’re so grateful to the Youthride team for initiating this and helping to raise awareness of the services we provide for youth – the least we can do is give them a good send off as they continue the northern league of the journey,” says Youthline CEO, Stephen Bell.
Youthride has a target of making $3000 for Youthline and is asking for people to get behind the cause and pledge any amount they can.
Every little bit makes a difference – if even one new phone counsellor can be put through training to help support the young people of New Zealand then all the chafing would have been worth it!”
