Overview
Bard Productions has been creating highly
popular adventure-theatre spectacles in Wellington for the
past 4 Years.
"Frogs Under the Waterfront" took audiences into Hades (the dark unexplored regions under Wellington's waterfront in paddle boats.
In "Quarantine" audiences were shipped out to Matiu / Somes Island under the pretense they'd contracted a dangerous illness and were to be quarantined with the spirits of the past.
Now the audience will join Trinculo, Stephano, and Ferdinand on their drunken boat party out into Wellington Harbour, and alongside them discover the monsters and spirits in that reside in the massive Animal Quarantine on Somes Island.
This is set to be our greatest adventure to date.
Description
Mystical creatures and grotesque monsters
- created by Weta Workshop’s award-winning makeup artists
and costume designers - will take audience members on a
journey over turbulent seas and through the massive
labyrinthine Animal Quarantine Station on Matiu / Somes
Island.
From the moment the audience steps onto the ferry at Queen’s Wharf they become a part of the show; and over the course of the performance will come face to face with the natural and historical wonders of the Island.
From the hilarious plots of murderous drunks, to the lustful romance of young lovers, and the trickery of forest spirits, Shakespeare’s wonderful story truly comes to life in the location where it is actually set: on a mystical, deserted Island!
