Heritage Hotels Tennis Charity Night In Support Of St John
4 January 2013
Heritage Hotel’s Charity Night in support of St John held during this week’s ASB Classic Women’s International Tennis Tournament served up a healthy $18,500 for the charity.
The funds raised at the annual ASB Classic’s Heritage Hotels Charity Night (Thursday evening 3rd of January) go directly towards purchasing 25 new paediatric oxygen saturation probes.
These specially-designed probes are used by paramedics to detect low oxygen levels in children while enroute to hospital and are more accurate for children than adult ones. On arrival at hospital the probe readings allow the medical team to quickly map a treatment path when time is of the essence.
“St John is delighted to be the recipient of the Heritage Hotels Charity Night and know that the probes will make a significant difference to the treatment and care our frontline officers provide to sick kids,” says Gary Salmon, General Manager, St John Northern Region.
The Heritage Hotels Charity Evening includes the fun and spectacular Heritage Auckland Lobbo event held on centre court between the evening’s singles and double match.
The audience each have the chance to purchase and then ‘lob’ their numbered tennis balls at two barrels on centre court to be in to win a range of prizes at Heritage Auckland, the host hotel for the tennis events.
Following was a lively auction conducted by auctioneer Chris Devereaux of exclusive items, with all funds raised on the night going directly to St John.
“Heritage Hotels are delighted to support St John in our annual fundraiser on centre court during the ASB Classic. It is an important event in our calendar of community support which we take very seriously,” says Graham Yan Chief Executive Officer of Heritage Hotel Management.
Heritage Hotels also support annually Make-A-Wish Foundation, Starship Hospital, Ronald McDonald House, Storylines Children’s Literature Festival and the Special Children’s Christmas Party.
