VEGEMITE SANDWICHES FOR SANTA
Kiwis get creative with presents for Mr Claus
Forget the milk and cookies; Santa’s going to be in for a few surprises when he visits Kiwi homes this Christmas Eve.
The annual GrabOne Christmas survey has found that while 44.7 per cent of Kiwis plan to leave Santa the traditional
offering to sustain him on his rounds, 16.1 per cent are getting a little more creative.
As well as “Vegemite sandwiches”, Santa can expect to find “a roast meal”, “two guard dogs”, “a pot of honey”, “Swedish
Christmas porridge”, “an invoice for last year’s damaged chimney”, “fishnet stockings”, and a variety of alcoholic
beverages left beside the Christmas tree from cheeky Kiwis around New Zealand.
However almost a fifth (18.1%) aren’t leaving anything out for Santa for this year.
With just seven sleeps until the big day, 40 per cent of Kiwis are confident they have been good enough this year to
make Santa’s nice list. Only 2.8 per cent expect to be on Santa’s naughty list.
GrabOne Marketing Director, Campbell Brown, says the survey results show Grabbies are getting right into the Christmas
“We’re seeing a fantastic increase in Christmas traffic,” he says. “Looks as though Santa’s sleigh could well be weighed
down with GrabOne vouchers this year!
“It’s great to see people getting involved in the excitement of Christmas and not forgetting about the big guy
delivering the presents. Given that several respondents said they’ll be leaving him a GrabOne Gift Card for his efforts,
we might see him popping in for a massage or sneaky plate of sushi with one of our operators before too long!”
GrabOne surveyed 1,450 customers across New Zealand in November 2012.
