Seats being snapped up for the 2013 SCIRT World Buskers Festival shows
Seats can be secured to attend ten of the 2013 SCIRT World Buskers Festival’s evening shows, being held 17 – 27 January, through the Buskers website worldbuskersfestival.com
This summer will be the 20th time the Festival has been held in Christchurch, and there are 15 venues where people can catch a show every day and night of the festival. As always the festival’s daytime street and stage shows are available for everyone to experience with artists passing the hat at the end of their show.
In addition to the very busy daytime event schedule the festival also has a selection of indoor theatre style shows and asks punters for an entry donation to attend.
World Buskers Festival Artistic Director Jodi Wright says by securing a seat online for those night indoor shows people won’t miss out.
“Last year, a lot of people missed out on getting a seat to our popular indoor evening shows as they hadn’t realised they could pre-book. This year we want to get the word out that you can trade a donation for seat on line and ensure you get to see the show”
Here is the line up of evening shows available to pre-book
· MOVING STATIONERY presented by MWH Mainzeal
Moving Stationery is a multi-award winning solo physical comedy created and performed by Thom Monckton.
· GAMARJOBAT R16 presented by Ingham
Gamarjobat are appreciated as artists worldwide and were chosen as one of “the 100 most respected Japanese people in the world” in the Japanese-edition of Newsweek magazine. Seriously, these guys can’t even leave their homes in Japan without getting mobbed.
· SAMMY J & RANDY presented by Ingham
As a solo act, Sammy J has performed at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, Montreal Just For Laughs, and throughout Australia as part of the Melbourne International Comedy Festival (MICF) Roadshow and Gala- so it’d be fair to say, he’s pretty funny. Oh and Randy’s a puppet.
· Hirepool NOTHING BUT STAND UP
The name says it really. Some of the best comedians in Australasia bring an eclectic mix of stand up comedy to the festival each night! Hosted by Urzila Carlson.
· Keith Preene's GOLDEN GOOSE BINGO
The Golden Goose comedy bingo show makes its debut at the festival especially for our 20th birthday! Previously the resident bingo show of Lyttelton’s famous Loons Theatre space. If you are lucky, you could be taking home one of Keith’s famous meat packs.
· LE GATEAU CHOCOLAT
We think you’d better check the photo! Prepare yourselves Christchurch because he’s jam-packed his oversized suitcases with 72 kilos of drag and is ready to unleash a delectable confection of mesmerising songs on his unsuspecting audience. Treat yourselves to a scrumptious slice of Gateau!
· iSite LATE NIGHT WITH THE BUSKERS
We call this ‘late night’ for a reason. The show is a mix of comedy, cabaret and circus! Hosted by Wilson Dixon, with Justine Smith.
· BUSKERS BURLESQUE
Burlesque…so hot right now! Joining the show from the New York Burlesque scene are world-class performance duo Trixie Little & the Evil Hate Monkey. From Seattle, the enviable Lily Verlaine and straight from his world tour is one of the finest boy-lesquers we've ever seen (yes, ladies and gents, we said boy-lesquer!), Jett Adore from Chicago!
· HOT DUB TIME MACHINE
The world's first time travelling dance party! Bring your dancing shoes.
· Beca BUSKERS BEST BITS R18
See the buskers doing their 'best bits'! Hosted by Justine Smith, a good Christchurch girl, winner of the 2003 Billy T Award, as seen on the Comedy Gala and host of TV3’s Divas.
