Locals get in behind Christmas in The Hutt
Wellington’s newest Christmas event, Lower Hutt’s Christmas in The Hutt, has been overrun with talented groups and
individuals, along with sponsors offering their support for this Saturday’s event.
The opportunity for involvement was put out a few months ago, and since then the committee have had so many groups come
forward that it has been hard to keep up.
The event will begin at 5.30pm with a Community Showcase, featuring performances from a variety of groups including an
opening number from a local kindergarten, seven school groups, international cultural groups, and the Hutt Community
Choir.
Community Showcase coordinators Grant Quinn and Margy Bliss have been working hard in behind the scenes to ensure a top
notch show, and everything is coming together nicely.
“It’s fantastic to see so much support for this new event – we’re so excited to be pulling together such a great range
of talented people from all over the City!”
Local businesses Pak N Save Petone, Westfield Queensgate, along with Classic Hits, Hutt City Council and funders
Infinity Foundation, Hutt Mana Charitable Trust, Pelorus Trust and Wellington Community Trust have all provided valuable
assistance in making the event the spectacle it is expected to be.
The Community Showcase is scheduled to start at 5.30pm and will be followed by the Main Event at 7.30pm which will
include carols, dance, Santa, and conclude with a spectacular finale featuring a pyrotechnics display at 9.30pm.
Christmas in The Hutt is a drug and alcohol free event.
Those unable to attend, or with family and friends outside of the region, are able to view the entire event live online

In case of inclement weather, a postponement date of Sunday 2 December will be in place.
