The Auckland Hearts have named 13 players in the squad to travel to Invercargill to play the SBS Bank Otago Sparks this
weekend.
The Hearts side has a similar look to the team that won the one day title last season with nine of the players who were
victorious in that final named in the 13 for this weekend.
The Hearts will play a twenty20 round on Friday afternoon before doing battle with the Sparks in two one day games over
the weekend.
With nine games packed into 17 days from this Friday the Hearts have a hectic start to their season but captain Victoria
Lind is confident the team is ready for that challenge and the change in focus to more one day cricket.
“It’s the nature of the domestic season to play games close together and it helps you get in to a good rhythm of playing
regularly. The two one day games in a round is something that will be a bit harder on the body but we’ve known about
that for a while and have made sure we’re preparing physically and mentally for it.”
The Hearts twenty20 clash with the Sparks starts at 4pm this Friday with the two one day clashes commencing at 10.30am
on Saturday and Sunday. All games are at Queens Park in Invercargill.
