One of a kind Hobbit artwork on sale to benefit CanTeen

The Hobbit fans have the chance to buy a one of a kind piece of artwork being sold on Trade Me to help young people living with cancer.

Christchurch airbrush artist Talia Pearson has created the ultimate fan tribute; a car bonnet painted with an image of British actor Sir Ian McKellen, who plays Gandalf in the Lord of the Rings and Hobbit trilogies, and Martin Freeman who plays Bilbo Baggins.

Sir Ian signed the artwork before Talia generously gifted it to CanTeen’s Canterbury/West Coast branch.

“With all eyes on New Zealand for the upcoming premiere of The Hobbit in the middle of Middle Earth this month, we thought the timing was right to hunt for fans keen to get their hands on this stunning one-off piece,” says CanTeen National Marketing Manager Kimberley Waters.

“We’re confident the sale of the artwork will greatly benefit our members, many of who I’m sure are huge Hobbit fans, and would love to own it themselves!”

The auction is now live on Trade Me and closes at 9pm on Thursday, 29 November. To view, search for ‘The Hobbit car bonnet’.

CanTeen is a national peer support organisation for young people aged 13 to 24 living with cancer as a patient, sibling or bereaved sibling. Visit www.canteen.org.nz for more information.
