Silo Park Summer Launch, Blues Brothers at the Cinema, and more!
Silo Park is proud to announce the launch of its 2012/13 season, offering free entertainment at Waterfront Auckland’s Wynyard Quarter throughout summer. From Friday 23 November, Silo Park will present a range of special cinematic, music and community events every Friday and Saturday – and we guarantee there's something for anyone and everyone!
The Silo Markets kick off each weekend at 5pm on Friday’s, where you can grab dinner from an eclectic array of street food style stalls, browse stalls, and toast the end of the week at the Silo Park Bar. Silo Markets also features weekly entertainment from local and international DJ’s.
Friday’s are also home to Auckland’s only regular open-air cinema, Silo Cinema – a fantastic outdoor film experience, where movies of all genres are projected onto the iconic Silo 7 at 9pm. Silo Park offers the ultimate weekend outing for all ages, inviting families and friends to grab a bite, pull up a beanbag and enjoy the show. Organisers are stoked to announce that 80's comedy classic, 'The Blues Brothers', will kick off the Silo Cinema season on Friday 23 November.
The Silo Markets take place from 12pm–6pm every Saturday, offering a veritable mix of food stalls, vintage clothing, contemporary artists, street performers and more. Once a month, Silo Park plays host to some of New Zealand’s best musical talent at Silo Sessions – a series of free concerts and performances, curated by special guests, community groups and collectives.
So come down and see what all the fuss is about! We're open for business from Friday 23 November, and would love to see you.

With an air of nostalgia, Silo Cinema launches its 2012 season with this 1980 comedy musical that will have you in stitches as Hollywood legends John Belushi and Dan Aykroyd tell a tale of redemption. They are "Joliet" Jake and Elwood Blues, a couple of deadpan guys who dress in dark suits and sunglasses, trying to reform their band and earn enough money to save the Chicago orphanage where they were raised. Featuring musical numbers by R and soul singers James Brown, Cab Calloway, Aretha Franklin, Ray Charles and John Lee Hooker; this toe-tapping comedy is the perfect way to kickstart your Friday night. So bring a blanket, grab a beer and settle in!
As always the film will be complimented by the Silo Night Market where you’ll be able to grab dinner from an eclectic array of street food style stalls, browse a variety of pop-up clothing stores and craftmakers, get your haircut, and of course toast the end of the week at the Silo Park Bar. This week, all profits from the sale of popcorn will be given to Youthline.
