Mike Pero gets behind V8ST Championship Finale
Mike Pero Real Estate are to back the final round of the inaugural V8 SuperTourer championship, which takes place at the
Powerbuilt Raceway, Ruapuna over the weekend of November 24 and 25.
Pero – a huge motorsport fan and backer of V8 legend Greg Murphy’s M3 Racing Holden Commodore V8ST – this week confirmed
that the event at Ruapuna will be known as the Mike Pero Real Estate 350.
Practice for the event takes place on Saturday with racing – two 175 km races – taking place on Sunday 25 and featuring
top level driver pairings in each of the 20 V8 SuperTourer cars. Murphy – still in with a good chance of wresting the
overall V8ST title as well as the endurance section of the championship when dropped scores are taken into account – is
looking forward to flying the flag at the season finale.
“You’ll not meet a more enthusiastic motorsport fan and supporter than Mike Pero, his backing of my car and this series
has been enormous, so I hope the fans support him when they are looking to buy or sell their house next!!” said the
Bathurst legend.
“M3 Racing and the number 51 car can still win this thing and Jack Perkins and I will do all we can to put the MPRE
Commodore where it needs to be at the end of the weekend,” said Murph.
“I think The Powerbuilt Tools Raceway is a tough race track and you need to be very consistent – that will be the
biggest challenge, but the car was very good there earlier in the year when Fabian Coulthard dominated so I am sure we
will be on the pace. I haven’t raced at Powerbuilt Tools Raceway since 90’s so that’s what I am looking forward to the
most!”
The meeting will be supported by a three hour South Island Endurance Series race, and a round of the popular Rennsport
series which features anything and everything German from Porsche Cup cars through to Volkswagen Golfs and BMW built
Minis.
