Museum launches new Facebook site
Canterbury Museum has officially embraced social media by launching its new Facebook site today.
The new Facebook page follows on from a pilot page created after the February 2011 earthquake. The aim of Canterbury Museum Earthquake Response was primarily to allow the public to share their thoughts on what they believed would be of value as collection
material relating to the 2010/2011 Canterbury Earthquakes. This site has now been renamed and revitalised.
“Our initial pilot Facebook page which was set up during the aftermath of the February 2011 earthquake has served its
purpose,” says Museum Director Anthony Wright.
“We are now entering the world of social media with a different goal, to increase our online audience. By using Facebook
more effectively as a communication tool, we can engage with the public on a different level, raise our profile in the
community and develop new connections with potential visitors. This is an exciting step for the Museum,” says Director
Anthony Wright.
Users of Facebook can access the Museum’s Facebook page simply by searching for Canterbury Museum on www.facebook.com or via www.canterburymuseum.com
