Calling All Budding Tryathletes, Entries Now Open for Weet-Bix Kids Tryathlon!
Kiwi kids aged 7 – 15 years are invited to register for the 2013 Sanitarium Weet-Bix Kids TRYathlon series which will travel to 13 different towns and cities across New Zealand from December until April 2013.
Paralympics Champion, Sophie Pascoe along with Olympian Alison Shanks and New Zealand Youth Olympians, Maddie Dillon and Aaron Barclay are TRYathlon ambassadors for 2013 and will be attending events around the country.
Pierre van Heerden, General Manager for Sanitarium Health & Wellbeing Company says the Weet-Bix TRYathlon is suitable for children of all levels of as it focuses on encouraging kids to participate, have fun and do their best.
“The Sanitarium Weet-Bix TRYathlon event is fun for the whole family, it encourages children aged 7-15 years to achieve a personal best and the atmosphere and crowd on the day is very exciting for everyone involved” says Mr van Heerden.
Every child who participates receives a race pack, a race T-shirt, a swim cap for all swimmers, a certificate and a medal.
Kiwi kids can enter the Weet-Bix TRYathlon as individuals, or in a team of two or three. The TRYathlon events has a limited number of places available, so schools and individuals who want to be involved should get in as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.
To ensure even more Kiwi Kids can take part in the Sanitarium Weet-Bix Kids TRYathlon and Go for Gold, Weet-Bix has set up the Weet-Bix Foundation. Teachers and community leaders can apply for support from the Foundation on behalf of a child between the ages of 7 to 15.
The Weet-Bix Foundation provides worthy nominees with a subsidy or complete funding of Sanitarium Weet-Bix Kids TRYathlon entry fees, as well as a subsidy or complete funding of necessary equipment to complete the event.
The Weet-Bix TRYathlon series holds the World Record for being the largest children’s sporting event in the world as certified by the International Triathlon Union.
Over the past 21 years more than 240,000 New Zealand children have taken part in a Sanitarium Weet-Bix Kids TRYathlon including New Zealand sporting heroes, Alison Shanks and Maddie Dillon.
