Nationwide Audition Dates Announced for the X Factor NZ
The X Factor NZ will travel to 27 locations through the county in early 2013 to find contestants for the first local version of the global television phenomenon.
Starting in Queenstown on January 5, and finishing in Kaitaia on Waitangi Day, the pre-audition tour is the first stage of The X Factor NZ process.
Co-executive producer Andrew Szusterman says: "We're looking for the next big recording star.
"If that's you and you're a singer, aged 14 and over as of January 2013, you should be performing at one of our pre-auditions early next year. It's the opportunity of a lifetime, and I encourage you to start preparing now."
Contestants who are successful at the pre-auditions will then perform in front of the four judges and a LIVE audience.
Multi-platinum recording artist Stan Walker, the first judge for The X Factor NZ to be announced, says he's looking forward to seeing what Kiwis have to offer.
"I know New Zealand is full of amazing people and singers that just need a chance to show how great they are," he says.
"I want to encourage anyone who thinks they have what it takes, but is too scared to give it a try, to get up and give it a go. You've got nothing to lose."
TV3 is also delighted to announce Ford New Zealand as the broadcast sponsor of The X Factor NZ, a multi-platform partnership that will celebrate excellence and Kiwi creativity.
The X Factor NZ is a SYCO owned format and will be co-produced by MediaWorks and FremantleMedia Australia. NZ on Air is a minority funder of the show.

ABOUT THE X FACTOR NZ
Hosted by Dominic Bowden, The X Factor NZ is the first local version of the global television phenomenon format, put on the map by music mogul Simon Cowell.
The X Factor has launched numerous internationally successful music careers, including Leona Lewis, Reece Mastin and One Direction. The X Factor artists have globally sold over 100 million records, achieving 250 number ones, 270 Top 10, and 501 Top 50 hit records.
The X Factor NZ is open to singers of aged 14 and up - either solo performers or groups. There is no upper age limit.
Once through the final audition process, the performers are split into categories - Boys under 25, Girls under 25, the over 25s and the Groups. Each judge receives a group to mentor throughout the competition, and the judges compete to be the best mentor and have the winning act.
In 2013, New Zealanders will have the chance to put their singing talents to the test, as The X Factor NZ travels the length and breadth of the country, from Invercargill to Kaitaia, with one goal - to discover the next great New Zealand recording artist, who will sign a recording contract with Sony Music Entertainment New Zealand.
