Criterium last opportunity for national title for SUBWAY® Pro Cycling

Tomorrow night’s National Criterium Cycling Championships in Takapuna will be the last opportunity for the SUBWAY® Pro
Cycling team to add to its collection of national titles.
Olympic medallist Westley Gough lines up with five of his team mates including the experienced Paul Odlin and rising
under 19 star Dylan Kennett, winner of four medals on the track at the UCI Junior World Championships in August.
SUBWAY® Pro Cycling have provided two previous event winners, Peter Latham and former world track champ and the team’s
General Manager, Hayden Godfrey.
Criteriums provide fast and furious street circuit racing that is great for spectators, and Godfrey said he expected
Kennett had a good chance of winning along with Odlin.
“The whole team is really motivated for this event which has one of the best atmospheres for cycling racing in New
Zealand,” he said. “It’s the last official national event for the team and with a national title up for grabs everyone
will be pushing really hard for a good result.”
Gough, Kennett and Odlin are joined by their SUBWAY® Pro Cycling team mates Nick Lovegrove, Matt Gorter and Simon Binney
for the event. Having recently completed the Powernet Tour of Southland, the majority of riders should be carrying good
form and Godfrey is expecting some close and exciting racing.
With SUBWAY® Restaurants finishing its sponsorship of the SUBWAY® Pro Cycling team in December it is the last chance for
riders to win a national title in the team’s colours.
Up to 10,000 spectators are expected to line the one of Takapuna’s main streets (Hurstmere Road) to watch the multi-lap
racing around a tight and technical one kilometre circuit.
Racing starts at 5.30pm with open and masters events before the elite women’s and men’s races later in the evening.
