Media Release – The New Zealand Art Show
November 2, 2012 – For immediate release
Artists Wanted for New Zealand Art Show 10 year Anniversary.
In 2013 The New Zealand Art Show celebrates 10 years of operation and preparations for a big celebration are well
underway with artist applications now open.
Carla Russell, the Executive Director of the New Zealand Art Show, is calling for all New Zealand artists to make
applications for next year’s show.
‘We have lots of plans to help mark 10 years as New Zealand’s largest art show and we want the 2013 show to shine with
some outstanding art. I encourage all artists to come on board and help us celebrate.’
Over the past nine years, the New Zealand Art Show has grown in size, reputation and quality to become one of New
Zealand’s leading arts and cultural events.
Since 2004, over 6 million dollars has been returned to artists, helping to support and maintain a thriving art
community; over 12,000 artworks have been sold and thousands of New Zealanders have been introduced to the joy of owning
and collecting original art.
This year there were record sales and attendances and Russell is confident that the 2013 show will be as successful as,
if not more than, this year’s show.
‘Every year the show gets bigger and better: the standard of art that we showcase each year progresses to a level that
New Zealand as a whole should be proud of. We have a lot of talented artists in New Zealand and the New Zealand Art Show
is the best place to demonstrate that.’
The prime objective is make original New Zealand art easily accessible to the public at affordable prices.
“The show is much loved by people who come to view a vast array of quality artworks in a dynamic and inspiring
environment,’ says Russell.
