Captain Katrina Grant Commits to the Haier Pulse

The Haier Pulse is building the best possible team for the 2013 ANZ Championship season as the franchise targets a play-off berth for the first time in their five-year history. The team will be led once again by Katrina Grant, who enjoyed the Pulse’s most successful season, but felt that the breakthrough 2012 campaign was just the start of a whole new era.

“I’m delighted to have re-signed with the Haier Pulse,” explained Grant who is currently starring for the Silver Ferns in the Quad Series against South Africa, England and the Australian Diamonds.

“After all we’ve been through in the last three years, there was no other team I wanted to play for. It was a no-brainer,” she added. Grant is also looking forward to teaming up once again with coach Robyn Broughton.

“Robyn has brought so much to the team and I know how determined she and the players are to kick on from 2012. We picked up five wins last season, which is good progress, but the Haier Pulse is capable of so much more.”

The world-class defender is looking forward to putting into practice what her team learned during last season. “There is a very positive feel about the whole organisation and everyone is working hard to improve. Hopefully next year we can show our passionate fans what we are really capable of.”

Haier Pulse Chairman Ian Collier was delighted to have secured the signature of such an influential player. “Katrina is key to our future plans and her commitment to the Haier Pulse is a vital step as we look to finalise our playing roster for next year.

“Katrina plays a major role in the team on and off the court and has developed into a highly-respected leader. The other girls love playing alongside Katrina and her influence helps to bring out the very best in them. Along with Robyn, we have two of the very best leading us into the 2013 season.”

The Haier Pulse play the Thunderbirds in Adelaide on 24 March in its first game of the 2013 ANZ Championship.
