NZ’s top skaters ready for Christchurch rooftop skating event!
Zon of the Lines Skateboard Invitational Series, proudly supported by Amazon, Mountain Dew, Vans and Plan B
Zon of the Lines is coming to a city near you.
Amazon, with the support of Mountain Dew, Vans and Plan B is proud to bring the Zon of the Lines Skateboard Invitational Series to Christchurch, Wellington and Auckland.
A custom made course has been crafted especially for the series featuring street-inspired obstacles such as a picnic table, flat bar and a wheel chair ramp. The set-up will be dropped at iconic locations in Christchurch, Wellington and Auckland where heavyweight line-ups will battle for their slice of a massive $10,000 prize pool.
20 of each region’s finest skateboarders will be handpicked to skate the course in Christchurch and Wellington, with two places in each event being held for wildcard entries.
The Auckland event will see 20 of Auckland’s best shredders, the winners of the Christchurch and Wellington events, along with two more wildcard entrants go head to head for cash and prizes in grand final.
Watch the teaser clip shot with Zon team riders Deen Rakich and Nick Lister, Christian Low and Mountain Dew team rider Brett Band. It shows the custom built set-up complete with a flat bar, manual/grind box, wedge to picnic table and wheel chair ramp. https://vimeo.com/51182317

Hootie
Andrewes
Sharing blood ties to one of our nation’s
finest snowboarders, Jake Koia, Hootie has an unfair
advantage. The genes are good here, and luckily he knows how
to use them. Having honed his craft in the wintery climes of
Arrowtown, he has now found ever so slightly sunnier
pastures in Dunedin, which he now calls home. Hootman is a
welcome inclusion in the Christchurch line-up, he
exemplifies the new age of skateboarder: Well-rounded,
perpetually stylish and ready to rip.
James
Kingston
25-year-old Christchurch native James
Kingston has been a mainstay on the competition scene in New
Zealand for a number of years now, claiming title after
title with his relentless approach. James had a blazing run
through last year’s circuit winning not only the
Cheapskates Nationals, but also Amazon’s The Biggest Game
of Skate and Billabong’s City Squared event in
Auckland’s Aotea Square earlier this year. He’s a force
to be reckoned with and a favourite for the Zon of the Lines
Skateboard Invitational series.
Cade
Wilson-Russ
It’s true that Cade lives on a
goldmine, not only in talent, but his West Coast home is
deep in gold country. Match those skills with some coaster
gnarl and you have a menacing combo. Cade is a boy (he’s
fifteen) but he skates like a man. There’s power and
precision in his skating, something that usually only comes
with years of practice.
Deen Rakich
Deen
epitomises everything about the progression of skateboarding
– clean, innovative and without bounds. He is leading the
new breed of street skateboarding in New Zealand, and his
fast and technical style is perfectly suited to the Zon of
the Lines format of ledges, flat bars and (sub)urban
features like picnic table and wheelchair ramp.
Nick
Lister
Nick can relish in the fact that he was once
capped as New Zealand’s youngest professional skateboarder
– at the impressionable age of 15, he was the one turning
heads. He has since gone on to win numerous national titles
and film a series of legendary video parts. Nick’s
skateboarding can quite confidently be used as the yardstick
to measure one’s onboard skills. He’s an all-terrain
wizard too, whatever he sets his wheels to gets shredded to
bits.
