KJet proud to create ultimate Queenstown experiences for Cure Kids
Well-respected children’s charity Cure Kids and KJet, one of Queenstown’s longest-established Jet boating companies, are celebrating 12 years of working together to fund research into life-threatening childhood illnesses.
Thrill ride operator Kawarau Jet – now re-branded as KJet -- was one of the very first Queenstown companies to support Cure Kids when the organisation launched its inaugural 50K of Coronet Peak event back in 2000.
Cure Kids Business Development Director Josie Spillane said it was fitting to recognise KJet’s “unfaltering” support from day one, as they worked towards exclusive golf event The Hills Cure Kids Open running later this year.
She said it was thanks to companies like KJet and the lure of Queenstown’s exciting thrill experiences that Cure Kids could run hugely successful events year after year. These events help fund medical research into a wide range of conditions affecting approximately one in 30 children, roughly one in every classroom in New Zealand.
“KJet was on board when the 50K of Coronet Peak started in 2000, and in the years since they have never stopped being a passionate and enthusiastic supporter,” said Ms Spillane.
Over the years Cure Kids has held countless high profile events in Queenstown with KJet always willing to help out with donating prizes or transporting event participants to create an incredible Queenstown experience. Cure Kids also often creates Ultimate Queenstown Packages for fundraising initiatives throughout the country, in which KJet is always willing to be included.
“The inclusion of a KJet trip makes the Queenstown packages hugely appealing which results in us raising thousands of dollars,” said Ms Spillane. “It’s just not a visit to Queenstown without a trip on KJet.”
KJet Sales & Marketing Manager Melinee Kong said the company and its employees “absolutely loved” being involved in Cure Kids events.
“Cure Kids is incredibly creative with its distinctly Queenstown-flavoured events, making it a perfect match for KJet,” said Ms Kong.
“We all love being involved in a Cure Kids event, it’s hugely rewarding to help an organisation like this. We’re lucky enough to meet some of these incredible kids and their families, making for a special day at work when we do.”
Queenstown Cure Kids events include Ticket to Hope, and The Hills Cure Kids Open.
One of the most renowned is the Accor $10 Queenstown Challenge to Cure Kids, an event that is well supported by KJet.
“KJet always provides us with trips that we use to thank supporters. As this does not cost us anything it means that all funds raised from the event go to continued research,” said Ms Spillane.
“KJet sums up Queenstown and we’re delighted to be aligned with such a credible and longstanding brand.
“What’s so refreshing about KJet is the enthusiasm that all the team show for whatever we do. It’s obvious they wholeheartedly believe in what we do.”
Ms Kong said it was a “privilege” to work with an organisation like Cure Kids.
“They do incredibly important work. We look forward to continuing to work with them in the future.”
