Mills Reef Winery Announces 2013 Stars under the Stars Concert ……
“Rock Legends” Tribute - Rod Stewart, Cher, & Elton John!
Now into its eleventh year, Mills Reef Winery is thrilled to announce that their hugely popular ‘Stars Under The Stars Concert’ is back with a vengeance in January, featuring three internationally acclaimed and legendary tribute acts to: Rod Stewart, Cher, and Elton John!
Concert -goers will be treated to a string of smash hits, from start to finish, delivered by the world’s most respected tributes to these legendary music icons. Says Mills Reef General Manager, Nick Aleksich, “we worked hard to find the best, and such is their incredible likeness, in voice and appearance, that fans are often left wondering if they’ve just witnessed the original artist!”
Opening the concert is the sensational Elton John Experience featuring Lance Strauss, widely regarded as Australia’s and arguably the world’s leading Elton John tribute, delivering an energy-packed rendition of Elton’s greatest hits.
Followed by Canadian, Dave Battah, regarded as one of the world’s greatest Rod Stewart tributes, presenting his spellbinding Forever Rod show. His vocals and incredible likeness has been said to have fans disbelieving that it’s not the man himself. Also joining him is special guest Ashleigh Toole, 2009 Australian Idol finalist, presenting her vocally powerful Hits Of Cher.
For over fifteen years, Dave Battah has thrilled sell-out audiences from Las Vegas, to London, Europe, the Middle East, and Australia with his stunning recreation of the unmistakable gritty vocals and energetic stage persona of music legend, Rod Stewart.
In his spectacular show, he effortlessly glides through Rod’s big hits, from rowdy tunes such as Hot Legs and Do Ya’ Think I’m Sexy, to romantic ballads such as The First Cut is the Deepest, Have I Told You Lately and Broken Arrow, to trademark ballads such as Sailing and Maggie May.
The Canadian-born singer says he is overwhelmed by his immense popularity. “It’s great to hear people tell me that I have given them something that to them, is just as satisfying, and probably just as close, as they are ever likely to get to Rod himself” said Dave.
“I count myself amongst the few vocalists in the world that can truly emulate Rod’s voice. I chose his music because it is so lyrical and all of his songs are as popular today as they were when they were released.”
“They also appeal to people of all ages, from all walks of life, all equally having a great time, singing along and enjoying themselves. It’s the same all around the world, wherever I play,” said Dave.
Special guest, Ashleigh Toole, will ‘turn back time’ with her tribute to her favourite artist, Cher. She is a unique and rare performer, Marcia Hines said, “I love your attitude. It’s fantastic. You’ve got one of the finest, strongest voices I have heard”.
Ashleigh made it into the top 12 of Australian Idol in 2009 and wowed the judges. Jay Dee Springbett (A Manager from Sony Music Entertainment) said, “There’s something mentally in the way that you, as Marcia said, just approach everything. Fifty percent of making it in the music industry is vocals and I think you’ve got the other fifty. Go Darling” Ian Dickson said “You are an immense talent”.
Says Ashleigh, “When people listen to music, it’s a peaceful sort of way of feeling better. I think that’s something great I can give.”
Ashleigh is truly an amazing, captivating and versatile artistic talent.
Since 1989 the Elton John Experience has been in great demand for concert appearances, gracing stages from the Sydney Opera House to the Royal Albert Hall in London, to performances in France, Spain and Hungary.
Fronted by Lance Strauss, the show has become the world’s best known Elton John tribute act, appearing before millions of people celebrating the music and lyrics of Elton John and Bernie Taupin.
“The resounding mood of this show is respect for the achievement of Elton John, a polished, impressive performance” says Pamela Payne of the Sydney Morning Herald.
“I was astonished when I saw him, he even has Elton’s skin” says John Reid, Elton John’s former manager.
From “Your Song” to “The Lion King”, the Elton John Experience embraces every highlight of Elton John’s long and illustrious career. “I’m flattered” said Sir Elton John.
