Seeking a memorable pre Christmas catch up for friends, family or employees?
“Summer Sounds in the Quarry” a twilight outdoor concert, is being held on Sunday 2nd December in the spectacular quarry lake amphitheatre at Waitakaruru Arboretum, Scotsman Valley, Tauwhare.
The concert will be a delightful mix of music and song, including the popular Swing/Jazz songs of the Rat Pack and Gershwin to the big ballads of Streisand & Eva Cassidy and some of the world’s most popular musical theatre and classical numbers.
With exceptional performers such as Julia Booth, a winner of 2007/08 PWC Dame Malvina Major Emerging Artist award and recent winner of the NZ Aria Competition, and also well known Waikato vocalists Sam Weir, Nick Wilkinson & Fiona Bradley, this will be a concert to enjoy. It is not often you find entertainers of such quality with the versatility to give your Sunday afternoon so much variation of music.
Prior to the concert, guests can take a leisurely afternoon stroll through The Sculpture Park @ Waitakaruru Arboretum. The park is carved into the Tauwhare hillside, and includes a magnificent 17 hectare garden and arboretum. The Waikato Sculpture Trust holds three curated exhibitions annually at The Sculpture Park. At any given time there are at least 50 sculptures to discover along the 2km long nature trail. Each sculpture and installation is placed to fit this truly beautiful setting.
Ticket numbers are limited, and the $40 cost includes entry to the Sculpture Park (valued at $15), entry to the concert as well as a complementary refreshment. Proceeds from the concert are going towards the completion of the Tauwhare School swimming pool project. Tickets can be ordered via the school website www.tauwhare.school.nz.
What a great way to catch up with friends prior to Christmas. Take advantage of this wonderful opportunity to enjoy an afternoon of art and quality musical performance in this truly unique and beautiful setting on Sunday 2nd December.
About Tauwhare School
Tauwhare primary is a rural state primary school nestled at the foot of the beautiful Scotsman Valley, just 10 – 15 minutes drive from Hamilton, Cambridge or Morrinsville. Although traditionally a farming area, a large number of newly developed rural subdivisions has changed the area and the mix of children at the school. Tauwhare School has been providing quality education for children in this community for more than 125 years. The Tauwhare Community is actively involved with the school and regularly supports it through fundraising, sporting and cultural events. The school is grateful to have excellent support from local businesses in the area as well.
