Kiwis Rev up for the Gold Coast’s Biggest Party Weekend!
The countdown is officially on! The biggest weekend in trans-Tasman sporting rivalry is just around the corner as the V8
Supercars ARMOR ALL Gold Coast 600 and the final Bledisloe Cup showdown takes centre stage in Queensland from October 19
– 21.
The ARMOR ALL Gold Coast 600, Queensland’s premier sporting event and the Gold Coast’s biggest party will feature a
world-class line up of international superstars alongside home grown talent; the action-packed event provides an
enticing mix of both motorsport and world-class entertainment.
The last endurance round for the 2012 V8 Supercar Championship will see Kiwi drivers Greg Murphy and Shane van Gisbergen
team up with top international motorsport talent such as Formula One driver Nick Heidfeld, Marco Andretti - from the
legendary Andretti family – and Indy car sensation James Hinchcliffe.
V8 Supercars Australia CEO David Malone says that they’re expecting to see a solid turn out from Kiwi fans this year who
will be out in force cheering on their local heroes.
“Close to 200,000 fans came to the 2011 ARMOR ALL Gold Coast 600, which we know consisted of a really strong New Zealand
contingent.
With the Gold Coast a home away from home for many Kiwis and an action-packed weekend for all trans-Tasman sports fans,
we anticipate these numbers will soar this year - especially given Van Gisbergen is among the top five in the
championship ladder and is hyped for a thrilling performance at his adopted home town race.”
An All Blacks clean sweep against the Qantas Wallabies in the final round of the Bledisloe Cup in Brisbane will top off
the weekend for the thousands of New Zealand sports fans expected to cross the Tasman for the weekend.
The party will continue well into the night with a plethora of music’s hottest acts set to get hearts racing.
International punk sensations Good Charlotte will rock their first – and only - Queensland performance since returning from hiatus, supported by legendary Aussie
rock trio The Living End as well as many more live music acts.
The iconic three day event also offers plenty of family friendly entertainment for kids and parents alike. Disney’s
Pixar Mack the Transporter and his friend Lightning McQueen will be on hand giving kids a chance to ride, race and play
their way through whole world of CARS themed entertainment.
