2012 Emerging Artists Winners Recognised!

Artrium Gallery has announced the winners from the Second Annual Emerging Artists Awards Competition, in a ceremony held in Thorndon Wellington.

This year’s Over-All award was presented to Kate Salisbury-Metcalfe for her painting, "AMANDA". The work is an oil painting, and Kate is currently a student at The Learning Connection Art School.

Other winners and works are:

Works on Paper:
1st Place - Dominic McElwee for Revelation Tiles
2nd Place - Alan Hodgetts for Vision
Commended - Briana Jamieson for A Welcomed Surprise

Works on Canvas:
1st Place - Jason King for Hazy Day
2nd Place - Natalie McMurchie for Spring Rain
Commended - Sarah Galea for Time to Say Good-Bye

“Hosting this event is a real pleasure every year to see the art work produced by such talented local artists." said Ami Brown, Director. "I congratulate each of our winners, and I look forward to watching them bloom in their art careers in the future.”

This is the second year that Artrium Gallery has held this competition. Last year's overall winner was also a student at the Learning Connection. Entries are judged by a panel of professional artists, with a variety of mixed media knowledge. All the finalists art work will be on display until the 8th of October at Artrium Gallery.
