Playwright Arthur Meek wins major arts award
Arthur Meek, author of On the Upside Down of the World, , won a major arts award last evening.
He won the $80,000 Harriet Friedlander New York Residency at the Macquarie Private Wealth New Zealand Arts Awards last

Arthur held a residency at the Michael King Writers’ Centre in 2011 and his play On the Upside Down of the World is
being staged in Devonport next Monday, for one night only, as a fundraiser for the centre.
The play has received rave reviews. An Auckland Theatre Company production, it stars Laurel Devenie and is directed by
Colin McColl. It will be presented at The Victoria Theatre in Devonport on Monday October 8, at 7.30 pm. Arthur will be
at the performance.
