Get Ready for Six Event State Ocean Swim Series this Summer
Quantum Events, together with their principal partner, State Insurance, are bringing to the public a bigger and better
six-event ocean swim series this summer. This season they are proud to announce they are clocking up ten years’ proven
event success, founded with an excellent reputation and a promise to deliver first-class events. The State New Zealand Ocean Swim Series has grown over the years to a full cache of six equally outstanding events, showcasing some of New Zealand’s most
unique and stunning beaches and waterfronts.
The aim is to promote fitness and health through ocean swimming with five of the six swimming events offering four achievable distances on the day. This presents a range of goals suitable for most ages and abilities. The
sixth event is the State Harbour Crossing which is the only event that boasts only one distance, the iconic 2.9km, ‘I’m
Going Long’ swim across Auckland Harbour.
With New Zealand boasting some of the most beautiful beaches and waterfronts in the world, this swim series will
encourage everyone to take advantage of its greatest natural resource. As has been acknowledged, New Zealand has a very
poor water-safety record, so with most cities and towns situated on or near water, it is important people are being
encouraged to safely understand and enjoy this beautiful natural resource. Swimming is invigorating, fun and can be very
relaxing.
The ‘I’m Going Long’ swim is a great challenge for individuals who have trained or have swimming experience. For the
duration of the swim, Surf Life Saving New Zealand guards will be on the water to ensure the utmost in safety
precautions at all times. The ‘Step It Up’ 1000 metre swim is ideal for those swimmers who are not quite ready to enter
the ‘I’m Going Long’ event. Then there is the ‘Give it a Go’ 300 metre swim which is a great introduction to ocean
swimming.
There is a great swimming experience for kids with the State OceanKids 200 metre swim, designed for kids wanting to get
into ocean swimming or for those who can swim 200 metres in a pool. Through a combination of pre-race fun, beach and
water safety activities and a shoreline 200 metre ocean swim, State OceanKids will come away enthused, educated and
rewarded for their effort. Quantum Events and State Insurance are a team who are passionate about creating inspiring events that help participants reach their
personal goals in some of New Zealand’s stunning locations.
