Greenstone Entertainment and Taupo Summer Concert Ltd Presents
Pat Benatar & Neil Giraldo, Bachman & Turner and America
Tickets go on sale Monday for the Summer Concert Series in Taupo, Matakana and Queenstown next February and promoters are reporting huge interest in headline acts Pat Benatar & Neil Giraldo, Bachman & Turner and rock favourites America.
Promoter and CEO Amanda Calvert of Greenstone Entertainment said that phones have been ringing off the hook since last week’s announcement and she credits the unprecedented response to a unique line-up performing in venues and locations that are fantastic holiday destinations.
“To be able to watch such iconic artists perform live and stay in some of New Zealand’s most picturesque destinations makes for a great experience. These shows are great value - the entire afternoon with some of the world’s finest rock n roll legends at only $85 for locals or $95 for others - and because the show is in the afternoon, day-trippers can save by enjoying an early drive home” said Calvert.
This is the first year for Summer Concert Series in Matakana and John Baker, Proprietor of Matakana Country Park, is excited to host the show in the region. Baker said “We hope the Summer Concert Series becomes an annual event for Matakana and that more people discover what North of Auckland – The Matakana Coast and Country (from Puhoi to Pakiri) has to offer – not just famous beaches and wineries, but also amazing food and entertainment.”
Queenstown’s Gibbston Valley Winery CEO and partner in Greenstone Entertainment Greg Hunt said that two previous successful Queenstown concerts have seen Summer Concert Series firmly entrenched on the local entertainment calendar. He added “Our Queenstown venue is in a stunning setting with a natural amphitheatre and an iconic Central Otago backdrop and our third year is set to be another capacity show. We have extended our range of wines to include Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris, Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay and there’s no better way to spend a Central Otago summer’s day than sitting in the sunshine and enjoying great international acts in a relaxing setting, with a glass of Gibbston Valley Winery’s best offering in hand!”
Over 14,500 people enjoyed the inaugural Taupo event in February 2012 and Mayor Rick Cooper said “We are so pleased to welcome our international artists and support crew plus the incredible number of music fans to our beautiful Amphitheatre and adjacent Riverside Park. We certainly hope they take a look around and enjoy the other features that the Taupo District has to offer. We look forward to rocking good times and another full house in 2013”.
Three legends of music together in three legendary summer concerts –
Pat Benatar, along with hard-charging guitarist / producer Neil Giraldo and some of the most memorable hits of the 80’s era such as, Hit Me With Your Best Shot, Love Is A Battlefield, Heartbreaker, We Belong, Fire & Ice, We Live For Love, You Better Run and Invincible.
