Powertool Records Presents the Come Down Kid’s EP Release

Powertool Records presents the Come Down Kid’s EP release celebration

Wine Cellar, Karangahape Rd, Auckland, Friday October 5

We are thrilled to welcome Come Down Kid back into the Powertool Records fold, under a new guise, and with a brand new EP simply titled ‘Come Down Kid’. In his previous incarnation, Simon Mallett was one of the driving forces behind the indie pop band Bored Gordon, who had several alternative radio hits including ‘Seaside Suicide’ and ‘Peter Pan’. Now Come Down Kid presents us with a new selection of beautifully crafted and moving songs which (speaking from experience) very quickly get set on ‘repeat’ in your head. The beautiful ‘Falling Into Pieces’ is featured on this month’s NZ On Air Kiwi Hit Disc. In other radio news, he’s already been a feature artist on Kiwi FM’s IAN show with Ben Hope, and he’s a guest selector on Bernie Griffen’s legendary 95bFM Border Radio Show on Sunday September 23 and will be appearing on bFM’s Freak the Sheep with Silke too.

Come Down Kid will showcase his EP, plus a swag of newly-written material (and maybe the odd Bored Gordon favourite) at a special release party in Auckland’s Wine Cellar on Friday October 5. He will be joined by another of Powertool’s rising stars, Nick Raven, whose soon-to-be-released debut album is picking up a fair bit of anticipation, and whose psychedelic fantasia ‘Butterfly High (But I Fly So High)’ has been a regular feature of the 95bFM Top Ten in recent weeks – plus a favourite on Radio Control and Fresh FM.
