Ageing with Attitude
Masterton Safe and Healthy Community Council in partnership with Masterton District Council is once again hosting Ageing
with Attitude to celebrate International Day of Older Persons.
Held in the Town Hall on Monday 1st October between 10.00am and 2.30pm the day will include 45 stalls representing
social services, leisure and sports clubs, community organisations and health and well-being providers. An interesting
array of workshops run every 30 minutes from 10.15am and include Neighbourhood Support: the benefit of knowing your
neighbours, Social Media: how to skype, facebook and text with Jeremy Langley from Masterton Library. Two workshops on
fraud will be delivered by Police Area Commander, Brent Register, and Jacquie Gray from Bank of New Zealand, Wairarapa
REAP, on downloading and storing photos and emails and the facts about downsizing to a retirement village presented by
Trevor Marshall.
A highlight of the day will be the workshop on “Heirlooms: what is important to keep and how” presented by Bridget
Wellwood. Bridget has worked as museum development officer for Te Papa; previously Director South Taranaki District
Museum; currently - Eketahuna Museum - chair of the committee and is a museum consultant. Bridget is particularly
interested in the stories behind old photos and their protection for future generations.
For those that pre-register with Cheryl from Woops a packed lunch is provided, Supergrans and Masterton Safe and Healthy
Community Council will be offering morning tea and coffee and tea with lunch. Transport is available if no alternative
is available by phoning WOOPs.
The event will be opened by Mayor Garry Daniell at 10.00am and the day will be filled with valuable information,
pampering from well-being technicians and fun, fun, fun.
