Wellington’s Comedy Community supports one of its own
Sunday 23 September at BATS Theatre
'Sup Portland! This girl's been called and she’s gotta fly!
Toi Whakaari costume student and local comedian Jim Stanton has landed the opportunity of a lifetime - an internship at the prestigious Oregon Ballet to work among top professionals in the costume department. With the support of comedy greats such as Billy T award winner Jarrod Baker and 7 Days panelist TJ McDonald, she has gathered together a night of entertainment guaranteed to have your sides aching and your spare change jingling.
“This is a great opportunity to learn new skills, and bring them back to New Zealand,” says Jim. “I’m lucky to have gotten such an opportunity, and lucky to be great mates with some of Wellington’s finest when it comes to the funnies - it’s going to be a great night!”
Along with Jarrod Baker and TJ McDonald, the night’s entertainment includes Raw Comedy winner Sarah Harpur, Wellington favourite James Nokise, and Raw Comedy finalist Jonny Potts, with the lady of the hour herself adding her own comedic talents to the performance. In addition to the quality laughs, there will be a raffle with prizes donated by Madame Fancy Pants, Iko Iko and Costume Cave.
All money raised at ‘SupPortland will go towards Jim’s flights and accommodation costs for the duration of the internship.
